Lorentzen Group is New Steel’s main shareholder through its Investment Fund, Hankoe Fundo de Investimentos e Participacoes. The group has more than 50 years operating in Brazil, and has investments in several sectors of the economy. One of the investments is Companhia de Navegação Norsul founded in 1963 and currently one of Brazil’s biggest shipping company. In the forestry sector the group has invested massively in planting eucalyptus trees in Minas Gerais through Aflopar. They have additional investmens in Ideias Net, Target Meio de Pagamentos and Value Net.
One of the group’s main achievements was the creation of Aracruz Celulose, a world leader in cellulose production and the first Brazilian Company to be listed in the New York Stock Exchange in 1992. Aracruz was sold to the Votorantim Group in 2009.
